4500 Kingsway, Burnaby (at Crystal Mall)
Sorry for the lack of post, I will try my best to update more often. Anyways, summer has finally arrived, and once again our group of beach volleyball lovers has resume our normal activity. The one thing I always look forward to is eating after a good game.
H suggested the new Alishan restaurant which is located on the outside circle of Crystal Mall. The restaurant is average size that claim it can accommodate 50 people at a time. I guess this type of restaurant is really popular in the area, cause you will always have to wait. The first time, we gave up after 20 minute, but finally tried for it again this time. After a good 15 minute wait, we were finally seated.
I had the chicken cutlet with egg covered ketchup fried rice ($8.20?). The portion was pretty good, and the chicken was rather tender. However the ketchup fried rice was disappointing. It barely had flavor, and there were still chunks of un-fried white rice. The vegetable was bland as well.W had the Curry fried rice with pork cutlet. It bared had any curry sauce, that spoonful was all he got.
Service was very inconsistent. We had one waitress who was all smiley and cheery, but another was quite mean and spoke rather impatiently. On top of that, they forgot one of our orders. After a good 30 minute wait, we just cancelled it, as most people already finished their meal.
I have actually tried this place twice, and just forgot my camera the 2nd time. Although I tried to give them a 2nd chance, but once again they failed to impress. The one thing I do have to say is that their price is cheap. Overall, I'd say they have average food and average service. If you really want some good set meal kind of food, give Cattle Cafe a try, it taste much better with a slight better service.
