Golden Spoon - not worth the drive

Price: Fair

Once again it was another online deal that brought me all the way to Newton Surrey to try this new frozen yogurt shop. I think this is actually an American chain frozen yogurt store that has just opened up 2 locations in the Lower Mainland. There is one in Surrey and another in Coquitlam.

One look at the address, I thought it would be a breeze to find it, but I am so wrong. R and I drove in circles for a good 10 minutes, trying to find this place. Finally I had to call a friend for help to get the phone number. It turn out this particular location was located
inside Superstore, no wonder we couldn't find it. Since this place has no tables or chairs, so it's more of a take out place.
Here is the menu, with comparable pricing to other places. Btw, the Fruit Topping are actually fresh fruit, so the typical frozen blueberry or strawberries are counted as regular toppings.

They had quite a few yogurt flavors which you are allowed to sample before purchasing. R went for the coffee yogurt while I chose blueberry yogurt. The yogurt here was rather thick in comparison with places like Qoola, so it melted relatively slow. Because of the thickness, it was more creamy, but lacked the yogurt taste. R's coffee flavor was not good. It had a weird after taste that is neither coffee like or yogurt like. My blueberry yogurt was not bad, it had only a light blueberry flavor. Personally I think only fruit flavors work with frozen yogurt. They had tons of candy/nuts toppings, but only a few fruit ones (because they didn't have any fresh fruit options).

Overall, we weren't fans of the frozen yogurt here, because it had more of a ice cream consistency and the flavor was not very natural. Therefore, there is really no need to drive out here (or to Coquitlam) to try it, if you are not in the area. However if you are more of a ice cream lover, then this place could be perfect for you.

I've been to this restaurant and I love everything that we ordered. They're vanilla ice cream is so heavenly. It's just that I have sensitive teeth that I didn't fully enjoy the ice cream. I think I'll ask my Bartlett dentist for a toothpaste for sensitive teeth before it gets worse.
