Chada Thai Fine Cuisine on Urbanspoon

Food: 3.5
Service: 4
Price: Expensive

I use to purchase the Entertainment book with every intention of checking out majority of the restaurants, but I always end up visiting only a few. So when this new trend of group buy popped up, I gladly canceled that subscription and started to follow these instead. I know these website are suppose to save me money, but I think I actually end up spending more because of all the 'good deals' XD. Anyways I digress, the point is that Groupon recently had a deal on a restaurant I been meaning to try, so I immediately snatched it up.

Chada Thai Fine Cuisine is a small restaurant located in the strip mall (next to Save on Food) across from Coquitlam center. From the outside, I really couldn't tell much, because it looked like your typical neighborhood restaurant. However once you step inside, the feeling totally changes. The decor was very nice and looked authentically Thai. Also the table setting certainly looked like fine dining restaurant. I guess it's true, you should never judge a book by its cover.
The first appetizer was the Stuffed Chicken Wings ($11.99). I've had this dish before, but it looked nothing like this. The plating was already very impressive. The chicken wing itself was also delicious. The outer shell was quite thin and crispy without being oily. The stuffing of vermicelli and various of vegetable was moist and good, it created a nice balance to the crispy outer shell.
Their dinner prices were certainly in the high range, as the above Seafood Plate was $25.99. To be honest, when I saw this I couldn't believe this moderate portion cost so much. This was a combination of grilled prawns, squid, mussels and scallops in a red curry sauce. The red curry was smooth and spicy with a hint of sweetness. These grilled prawns were huge, but not as juicy as I would have liked. On the other hand, the scallops were excellent, they were tender and soft. The mussels and squid were good, but nothing spectacular. Although the dish was good, but I don't know if it's worth that price.
When I noticed they had Mango with Sticky Rice ($6.99) on their menu, I was excited, as it was one of my favorite Thai dessert. This tasted just like what I use to have back when I was living in Thailand. The warm sticky rice was infused with coconut milk with a hint of saltiness. On top of that, their mango was really fresh and sweet. In a nut shell, I really liked this dessert.

Service here was superb, it was really up to standard of a fine dining restaurant. The hostess/waiter was very professional, he specifically asked if I had any food allergies when ordering. They paced the timing of each dish very well and frequently checked on us.

Overall, both R and I enjoyed our meal at Chada Thai. Base on their food and service, I'd say they certainly deserved to be in the fine dining category. Because of this, their price point are higher than other typical Thai restaurants. However they do have a lunch menu with affordable prices, so do check them out if you are a Thai food lover.

Cathy: it was, although expensive, but I think it's worth the price.

I liked this place too. I had a really nice meal there a few years back. I had my first orange colored Thai milk tea. I remember their food is on the more spicy side. Is it? I don't know why I haven't been back... probably because of the price.
